Josh Allen starts the new season with another historic day

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Josh Allen began the 2026 season just like he finished the last one and the one before that -- by doing a little bit of everything, and in spectacular fashion.

Allen had two rushing touchdowns in Buffalo's wild 36-31 win over the Houston Texans, weaving his way into the end zone on a 21-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter and then scoring again on a one-yard push up the middle later in the same quarter.
The first touchdown moved him into a tie with Hall of Fame running back Edgerrin James at 22nd on the NFL's all-time rushing touchdown list with 80 touchdowns; the second score moved him into a tie at 20th with one-time Bill Frank Gore and former New York Giants standout Ottis Anderson.

Of course, Allen did much more than that in the win over the Texans; the quarterback finished with 334 yards passing and two touchdowns through the air, including the 34-yard game-winning pass to Joshua Palmer with 1:36 remaining. It was Allen's 26th career game-winning drive in the fourth quarter or overtime -- the most by any quarterback since Allen entered the NFL back in 2018.
"It feels good to start the season off right," Allen said.
