Pete Alonso smacks career HR No. 300 in return to Citi Field vs Mets

· Yahoo Sports

Pete Alonso's 300th home run of his career came at an inopportune time for the Mets, but the club's fans did not seem to care as they witnessed history.

With the Mets leading by one run with one out in the top of the ninth inning, Alonso belted a game-tying solo shot off Kodai Senga to reach the milestone and even the score at 3-3 against his former team at Citi Field.

After Alonso reached down to tag a hanging forkball from Senga off the face of the second deck in left-center field, he javelined his bat back toward the Orioles dugout.

The Flushing faithful, which had serenaded Alonso each time he stepped to the plate in the first two games between the two sides, exploded. Alonso greeted them with a rare curtain call by a visiting player.
