Tennis takes center stage in Newport this week as the annual Hall of Fame Open begins at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

The Cerity Partners Hall of Fame Open, presented by the MARGARET Fund, is New England's only professional tennis tournament and this year will be headlined by defending women’s singles champion Caty McNally, 2025 women’s singles finalist Tatjana Maria, and former Newport ATP finalists Alex Michelsen and Jenson Brooksby.

“The caliber of talent coming to Newport this year is a true reflection of Newport’s reputation as a destination event,” said tournament director Brewer Rowe. “From former champions to the next generation of stars making their debuts, the Cerity Partners Hall of Fame Open is cementing itself on the grass-court calendar, and there's no better stage than the International Tennis Hall of Fame.”

Michelsen, ranked No. 38 in the world, returns to Newport after reaching back-to-back finals in 2023 and 2024. He is joined in the ATP field's top five by Brooksby, making his first Newport appearance since his 2021 singles final run. The men's draw also features 2025 Newport semifinalist Eliot Spizzirri alongside Australians Adam Walton and Aleksandar Vukic.

The WTA 125 field is headlined by McNally (No. 54 in the world) and Maria, a four-time WTA champion and former Wimbledon semifinalist. Rounding out the top four women’s entries are two-time major doubles champion Zhang Shuai, who recently captured the Australian Open doubles title, and five-time WTA 125 winner Alycia Parks, who makes her tournament debut.

Qualifiers took place Sunday, July 5, with early round matches set for Friday. Quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday, July 10, with semifinals on Saturday and Finals on Sunday, July 12. The tournament will award equal prize money of $225,000 to the men’s and women’s player fields, an increase of $25,000 from 2025.
