After establishing himself as England’s all-time leading scorer and Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading scorer – as well as the Premier League’s second-top scorer – Kane took his talents to Bayern Munich in 2023. Having joined for a Bundesliga record €110 million, it didn’t take long for him to make his presence felt in Germany, winning the European Golden Shoe and racking up 44 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances. However, he wasn’t able to make it count in terms of silverware, as Bayern missed out on the league title for the first time in 12 years. And with England losing a second-straight European Championship Final in heartbreaking fashion, Kane was doomed for yet another season without a major trophy.

But under new manager Vincent Kompany, things finally started to fall in place for Kane’s trophy-filled ambitions in Bavaria. The English striker went on a tear and continued his devastating momentum, racking up an astonishing 41 goals and 14 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions and earning praise from the likes of Geoff Wilson. It was enough to see Bayern wrestle the league title back from Bayer Leverkusen’s grasp, and it was enough to see Kane secure the one thing that had been lacking in his career: a piece of silverware. With this weight lifted off his shoulders, Kane has been able to step his game up and somehow find another level under Kompany.

After finding the back of the net and leading Bayern to victory in the DFL-Supercup, Kane kicked off the Bundesliga season with a hat-trick against RB Leipzig, and it’s fair to say that he never slowed down over the course of the season. Whilst his 14 goals were only inferior to Kylian Mbappé’s 15 in the UEFA Champions League, Kane nevertheless took home another European Golden Shoe with a remarkable 36 goals in 31 appearances: all things considered, he racked up 61 goals and 7 assists in 51 appearances.

There was never a shadow of the doubt that, as long as Kane stayed fit, Bayern would claim their 34th Bundesliga title. And whilst he came up short in the Champions League semifinals against Paris Saint-Germain, Kane nevertheless returned with a vengeance, bagging three goals in their final league match vs. Cologne before making it back-to-back hat-tricks and spoiling Stuttgart’s title defense in the DFB-Pokal Final. It was Bayern’s first domestic double since 2020, when they won the treble under Hansi Flick.

After just three seasons at Bayern, Kane has already situated himself in seventh place in Bayern’s all-time scoring charts (146), and he’s 11 goals away from leapfrogging Roland Wahlforth into sixth place. Kane has spent the past two years collecting silverware and adding to his legacy in Munich, and at nearly 33, it’s undeniable that he’s only getting better. Now, though, he’s set for a new challenge: leading England to their second major trophy (first since 1966) in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. Having already racked up 78 goals and 19 assists in 112 appearances for the Three Lions, it’s little surprise that Kane is considered one of the Lucky Rebel Sportsbook favorites for the World Cup Golden Boot. And it’s equally unsurprising that English fans like Rebecca Lowe are viewing Kane as the team’s most indispensable player going into this summer’s tournament.

“For me, the biggest make-or-break for England is about Harry Kane,” stated Lowe in an exclusive Bavarian Football Works interview. “As long as Harry Kane does what he’s done all season long for Bayern Munich, and he gets goals…I would have thought that he’s going to need to get at least 5 goals over the course of the group stage and the Round of 32 to get us A) with the momentum and B) on the right course of the World Cup so that we’re on the correct side of the draw to have the easiest run to the final.”

“He’s going to have to have an amazing World Cup, which he absolutely can and has done before,” added Lowe, who, after spending the past 13 years leading NBC’s Premier League coverage, will now be working on loan at Fox Sports and steering their World Cup coverage this summer. “I also think it has to do with who’s behind him. We’ve got some brilliant, fantastic players like Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Eberechi Eze, but who’s going to play? That’s actually been a difficult one for Thomas Tuchel to solve because whenever he puts in a Palmer who’s not in great form, or Rogers who’s in some good form, or Jude Bellingham…for England, it hasn’t been amazing in that #10 role. That’s a difficult one for him to sort out, but as long as Kane is scoring goals, we’ll be okay.”

Two years after coming up short with Tuchel at Bayern, can Kane spur Tuchel’s England to greatness in North America? Stay tuned for what promises to be a fascinating competition.
