Carles Gil’s place in New England Revolution history is secure. On Wednesday night, the club legend joined some exclusive MLS company, too.
The Revs captain recorded his 100th career MLS regular-season assist in a 3-2 victory over Red Bull New York at Gillette Stadium. The Spanish playmaker became just the eighth player in league history to reach the milestone.
Gil's 13th assist of the season set up Dor Turgeman’s ninth-minute opener, helping New England secure a fourth straight victory and move into second place in the Eastern Conference (58 points).
“Congratulations to Carles,” head coach Marko Mitrović said after the game. “It’s a great achievement... he has earned and deserved these [achievements], and I am really happy for him.”
Elite company
Gil needed just 225 MLS appearances to reach the mark. Only Carlos Valderrama (156), Marco Etcheverry (182) and Preki (208) reached the milestone in fewer regular-season appearances.
The achievement only adds to Gil’s list of accomplishments in New England. The 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP has led the Revolution since arriving from Spanish side Deportivo La Coruña in 2019, adding 62 regular-season goals to his century of assists.
"Carles is someone who the team knows can help us with numbers — goals and assists,” Mitrović said. “But there are so many small things Carles does on the field that help us perform. He has massive trust from us and our team.”

Messi & Co. up next
Turgeman completed his brace immediately after halftime, finishing off a feed from Luca Langoni. After Cade Cowell and Julian Hall brought New York level, Dániel Gazdag delivered the 83rd-minute game-winner for the hosts.
The win brought New England to 58 points with two matches remaining, guaranteeing a top-four finish in the East and home-field advantage in Round One of the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs.
The Revs sit just two points ahead of Inter Miami CF for second place in the East.
But a tough test still looms. With crucial playoff seeding on the line, they will host Lionel Messi and the Herons on Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire (7 pm ET | Apple TV).
