'Revolutionary scenario' - German women's Bundesliga mulls play-offs

The German women's Bundesliga is considering introducing play-offs for the championship, promotion and relegation after launching the sale of media rights for the first time since announcing a split from the German Football Federation.
The split will fully come into force at the start of next season and the Bundesliga has issued TV rights tenders including a "revolutionary scenario" featuring play-off games for the first time. The idea is seen as attractive to broadcasters who could market the decisive play-offs better than normal league games.

The tender also sets out an "evolutionary scenario" that would keep the existing format of a single round of home and away matches.
Double double winners Bayern Munich had previously come out against play-offs for the title after speculation about the future format.
"In the end, the team that has delivered the best performances over the whole season must become champions," said Bianca Rech, women's football director at Bayern.
Perennial runners-up Wolfsburg are also opposed to a possible change to the format.
The clubs are set to decide on the play-offs idea at a general meeting on November 30 after talks with media companies have been concluded.
