It has been a frustrating season for Diaz, who has only played in 16 games and recorded a dreadful 11.85 ERA, and has missed the last month with neck inflammation, which doesn’t include the other time he has missed. In regards to Diaz’s role when he comes back, Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said on Thursday that he will be in “low leverage” situations, with the chance to earn spots in higher scenarios.
“Dave Roberts said Edwin Diaz will meet team in Los Angeles. When he is activated, it will be “low leverage” situations and will have to earn higher leverage spots,” David Vassegh wrote on X.
At any rate, it remains to be seen how Diaz closes out the season, as while it has been a disappointing year for him, he could close it out with a bang as the Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants on Friday.
