Sugar Hill's McLaren leads UNH men's soccer team to win over Syracuse

Cabot McLaren scored the game-tying goal and assisted on the game's first goal in the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team's 3-2 triumph at Syracuse University on Sunday.

The junior forward from Sugar Hill knotted the score at 2-2 in the 80th minute with his low shot from the top of the penalty box that trickled through traffic into the lower right corner of the Orange net.

McLaren also assisted teammate David Davila's 53rd-minute header goal that opened the game's scoring with his cross from the near sideline into the penalty box.

Laurin Preuss scored the game-winner for UNH (1-1-0) in the 82nd minute on a blast from about 30 yards out.

The Wildcats are now 2-0-1 all-time against Syracuse (1-1-0).

UNH plays its home opener on Thursday (7 p.m.) against St. John's.
