The Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants have gotten together for some rather massive trades over the past year or so.

The Red Sox originally sent Rafael Devers to the Giants prior to last year's trade deadline, and made a similar type of move for a former top prospect in Marcelo Mayer in a deal at this year's deadline for Erik Miller. Both trades definitely raised questions, but the two players know each other and will be able to work with one another again.

There has constantly been a question about whether the Red Sox and Devers have a bad relationship. From the sound of things, that was the case.

However, Mayer doesn't seem to be too worried about whatever happened in Boston and is really excited to be with the veteran.

“He’s one of the best hitters I’ve ever been around,” Mayer said, per The Athletic. “To have him here as a resource and as a teammate, I’m super excited for that.”

Playing with a guy like Devers, both left-handed hitters, should give Mayer an opportunity to understand what he needs to work on.

Devers, undoubtedly one of the better hitters in Major League Baseball when he's at the top of his game, has struggled a bit since being in San Francisco. Still, this feels like a good opportunity for both of them to have some familiarity in the clubhouse.
