UFC's Jovan Leka dreams of fighting in US arenas: 'No better place to die'

Serbian sports fans are notorious for their passion and die-hard attitude. From soccer to basketball, fans always show up to support their countrymen, making sporting events a spectacle. Yet, despite having such a thing at home, Jovan Leka dreams of fighting in American arenas.
Leka (14-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) successfully debuted in the UFC this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 283 in Belgrade, Serbia. He folded Alexander Poppeck with a nasty kick to the body, and then followed up with ground-and-pound to get a first-round TKO victory. Leka was happy to get a win on home soil, but he now wants to go across the pond to continue his promising career.

"To be honest, my first dream, of course, is UFC because of the American arenas," Leka told MMA Junkie Radio. "I was always looking up for American arenas. I was looking for the biggest arenas you can give to me. I mean, there is no better place to die than in a large arena with a huge amount of people. As large as it can be, I just want huge arenas, huge crowds, so that's it."
Leka made a big splash with his first-round TKO win. The UFC's heavyweight division is undergoing a bit of a renaissance with new names making big statements over the last year. Leka feels he's part of that change of guard and is willing to take on anyone.
"I never say no to any guy my coach or my manager brought to me," Leka explained. "Because the first time I say no for a fight, I'm not the same guy anymore. I'm a fighter. My job and my destiny are to fight everyone whenever. I can go out on the street and get into a fight. There is no canceling, no, this kind of opinion. It's the same here. I don't want to rush. I mean, let time do its own thing.
"This is why I have great management. I have a great coach. These are the guys who are looking for me and picking the right time and right opponents for me. You know, my coach knows me best, right? He knows how good I am, how ready I am at any moment, so he's going to make a great decision. This is the guy I have, you know? He has my right to do whatever he wants with my (career). What he says is like the same as what I say. We have a very great bond between us. So, I mean, I would accept anyone, anywhere, anytime, but that's not a question for me."
