While LeBron James is involved in one of the biggest stories in free agency after his Los Angeles Lakers exit, he is still one of the biggest topics in basketball. Among them is always being involved in hypothetical situations, including being seen as the prime player to be stopped by older players.
Dennis Rodman is one of those older players who thinks he is one of the league's best-ever defenders. He is correct about his reputation as a top stopper, so he thinks he could stop LeBron if they are matched up against each other.
Dennis Rodman thinks he would be the optimal LeBron James matchup
Rodman was such a standout defender when he was with either the Chicago Bulls or the Detroit Pistons. He might not have been the most skilled offensive player, but he was one of the most impressive players when it came to his defensive duties and rebounding.
He stands at 6'7", and he weighed around 220 pounds during his prime. Those are probably the right physical traits to match up with LeBron. However, Rodman might be overlooking the skill set that LeBron has developed throughout his over two-decade NBA career.

Rodman himself admits that height would be a clear advantage for James, but it might not be the only advantage the four-time MVP has over Rodman. In fact, the skill level gap might be too big for Rodman because James has played in the most talented era in NBA history.
"Only thing he has on me is his size; he's 6'10", I’m 6'6", but that don't mean anything. I’ll make him go left all day long. I’ll make him shoot that damn jumpshot, which ain't worth it," Rodman said about matching up with James at Fanatics Fest.
For the longest time, LeBron has proven that any defensive matchup can be beaten. Rodman might pull off some stops from time to time, but it won't be a 100% defensive wall because James will find a way to win the matchup with his talent and basketball IQ.
