Lisa Kiewatt and Katie Fellows earn a bronze medal at Special Olympics USA Games

Jun. 29—BLAINE — Lisa Kiewatt and Katie Fellows represented Bemidji well at the Special Olympics USA Games.

On a national stage, the pair earned two bronze medals in women's unified doubles and unified team bowling, hosted by Lucky Strike in Blaine. Fellows also placed seventh in singles bowling.

For their efforts, Fellows and Kiewatt have been selected as the grand marshals for the Bemidji Jaycees Water Carnival Grand Parade on July 5.

The Special Olympics USA Games were hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Fellows and Kiewatt participated in the opening and closing ceremonies with Team Minnesota at Huntington Bank Stadium. It's the first time Minnesota has hosted a major Special Olympics event since the International Games were held in 1991.
