Vikings named as potential team for former All-Pro pass rusher

The Minnesota Vikings are expecting Dallas Turner to step up and fill Jonathan Greenard's shoes as he enters his third season. If he can, he and Andrew Van Ginkel can provide a formidable pass rush duo.

Unfortunately, the Vikings' depth at EDGE rusher was diminished after trading Greenard. With Turner now a starter, Minnesota's top backup is likely Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, who spent his rookie season as an interior lineman. Behind him are Bo Richter, Tyler Batty, and Chaz Chambliss, all former UDFAs who have been more notable on special teams than providing consistent pass rush.
That could force the Vikings to add an EDGE rusher this summer. ESPN's Aaron Schatz believes Minnesota's top priority should be signing Haason Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowler who spent last season with the Buccaneers.
Reddick had only 2.5 sacks last season, the lowest of the three best available veteran pass rushers, but his 12% pass rush win rate was still impressive: similar to the Chargers' Tuli Tuipulotu and just ahead of the Steelers' T.J. Watt. Reddick's history of playing in flexible 3-4 defenses makes him the best fit for defensive coordinator Brian Flores because he has more experience dropping into coverage on complicated zone blitzes.
Reddick isn't the only talented EDGE rusher available, as Schatz notes. Jadeveon Clowney and Joey Bosa are both available, too, but Schatz had them signing with the Packers and Bears, respectively, in this piece.
It feels like an additional pass rusher will be added before the Vikings take on the Packers in Week 1. We will see if Minnesota prefers Reddick over the other available rushers.
