March and March, an anti-illegal immigration organisation, together with other protesters, said they were giving all undocumented foreigners until 30 June 2026 to leave the country and return to their home countries.
Amongst the marchers was Abanqobi Gospel Group singer Malusi Mbokazi, who said that as a community member of Umlazi, it was important for him to show up as both a resident and an artist.
Mbokazi said that although he cannot speak on behalf of his fellow industry mates, he encouraged all South Africans to come together and voice their concerns.
“(Translated from IsiZulu)If we also fight for the country, maybe more people will also come and join. To those who are still scared, as you can see, today there was a peaceful march, and no one was beaten or hurt; it was just peaceful,” said Mbokazi.

“THERE IS NOTHING UNDER CONTROL. WE ARE IN CHARGE OF THIS COUNTRY,” SAYS NGIZWE MCHUNU
Anti-illegal immigrant activist Ngizwe Mchunu said that most South African politicians only care about themselves. “South African politicians always claim to have everything under control. There is nothing under control; we are in charge of this country,” said Mchunu.
Speaking at Tehuis Park in Umlazi, Mchunu mentioned that when they hold a peaceful march, they are always told they lack sympathy.
“We do have Ubuntu. We have lived with foreigners for many years and we have been slowly asking them to leave the country. No government knew that there were more than 100 000 illegal foreigners [in Durban].”
