· Yahoo Sports
NEW DELHI: Win and survive, or pack your bags and head home. The equation is simple for Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad as they prepare to face off in the IPL 2026 Eliminator at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Wednesday.
The winner will move into Qualifier 2, while the losing side will see their campaign come to an end.
Sunrisers Hyderabad head into the knockout clash with confidence firmly on their side after defeating Rajasthan Royals twice during the league stage this season.
SRH finished third on the points table with 18 points from 14 matches, level with the top two sides — Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans — but dropped to the Eliminator because of an inferior net run rate.
Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, secured the final playoff berth with a crucial victory over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. RR ended the league stage in fourth place with 16 points from eight wins.
With the high-stakes Eliminator just hours away, here’s a look at the key players who could shape the contest.
ABHISHEK SHARMA
Abhishek Sharma can single-handedly destroy bowling attacks when he gets going. Known for his fearless strokeplay and towering sixes, the left-hander will once again be expected to provide SRH with a blazing start.
The 25-year-old has scored 563 runs in 14 matches at an average of 43.31 and a stunning strike rate of 206.23 this season. He has already smashed 43 sixes in the tournament and Mullanpur could witness another special innings from him.
ISHAN KISHAN
Ishan Kishan will carry huge responsibility for SRH in the Eliminator. Known for thriving under pressure, Kishan has repeatedly delivered in crucial matches and SRH will hope for another impactful knock on Wednesday.
In the absence of Pat Cummins, Kishan also impressed with his leadership while continuing to contribute heavily with the bat. He has scored 569 runs in 14 matches at an average of 40.64 and a strike rate of 178.37 this season.
HEINRICH KLAASEN
Heinrich Klaasen has been one of the biggest reasons behind SRH’s dominance this season. The destructive middle-order batter has consistently changed games with his aggressive strokeplay and ability to finish matches under pressure.
Klaasen is currently SRH’s leading run-scorer, with more than 600 runs in 14 matches at an average of 50.50 and a strike rate of 159.47.
VAIBHAV SOORYAVANSHI
At just 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of the most dangerous batters of IPL 2026. The young batter from Bihar has terrorised bowling attacks with his fearless intent and extraordinary power-hitting.
Opposition teams now plan specifically around stopping Sooryavanshi early. Although he managed only four runs in the crucial win against Mumbai Indians, RR will hope for a trademark attacking innings from him in the Eliminator.
Sooryavanshi is RR’s highest run-scorer this season with 583 runs in 14 matches at an average of 41.64 and a phenomenal strike rate of 232.27. He has also smashed 53 sixes in the tournament so far.
JOFRA ARCHER
Jofra Archer remains RR’s biggest weapon with the ball. With raw pace, aggression and the ability to strike early, Archer can dismantle batting line-ups in the Powerplay on his day.
Against Mumbai Indians, after RR posted 205, Archer ripped through the top order by dismissing Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir and Hardik Pandya cheaply.
If Sooryavanshi has been RR’s game-changer with the bat, Archer has been their leader with the ball. The England pacer has taken 21 wickets in 14 matches this season and RR will once again look towards him for a fiery spell in the Eliminator.
