Patriots insider shares update on WR Kayshon Boutte amid trade talk

New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has continued to work away from the team in the offseason, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

The 24-year-old wideout is in the final year of his rookie contract with no extension currently on the table from the Patriots. In fact, New England appears to be on the verge of making the kind of moves that could significantly impact Boutte's target share.

They signed Romeo Doubs in free agency, and they are expected to trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown on or after June 1. That doesn't leave a lot of targets for Boutte, who already saw his production dip in 2025.

Reiss wrote:

"Free agent signee Romeo Doubs highlighted Mack Hollins, DeMario "Pop" Douglas, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III as receivers who have helped him acclimate to the Patriots' system through the first four weeks of the voluntary offseason program.

It caught the ear that Kayshon Boutte wasn't included as he has been working out away from the facility."

Boutte served as one of the Patriots' most clutch playmakers last season.

Despite seeing fewer targets, he still racked up 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns. On Monday, NFL insider Albert Breer said that he believes that Boutte could still be traded for a fifth or sixth-round draft pick to an interested team.

However, the Patriots have yet to offer any official indication that they are moving from the veteran receiver.
