The Minnesota Vikings are trading Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles. The deal was reported midway through the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night, with ESPN's Adam Schefter on the news.
Going back to the Vikings: Pick No. 98, a third-rounder this year; and a third-round pick next year.
Greenard is also getting a new contract.
"Greenard and the Eagles reached agreement on a four-year, $100 milllion extension that includes $50 million fully guaranteed, per his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey," Schefter wrote on X.

Why did the Vikings trade Jonathan Greenard to the Eagles?
Minnesota and Greenard had fallen out of favor. These rumors have persisted for weeks.
It's a lot of saved cap space for Minnesota.
For the Eagles, it's a big-time pickup.
Greenard, who will turn 29 on May 25, is a former Pro Bowler who is quite capable of getting after opposing quarterbacks.

In 12 games in 2025, he had just 3.0 sacks.
But in 2023, he had 12.5 sacks, and in 2024, he had 12.0 more sacks.
Greenard joined the Vikings from the Texans for the 2024 campaign, so he's spent the last two seasons in Minnesota.
Now, he's going to Philly.
