The Philadelphia Eagles love NFL Draft night deals, and pulled off another blockbuster ahead of the 2026 season, acquiring edge rusher Jonathan Greenard from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for third-round picks in 2026 and 2027. Known for his ability to generate pressure and disrupt opposing quarterbacks, Greenard immediately upgrades Philadelphia's defensive front and adds another proven pass rusher to the rotation.

According to Adam Schefter, Philadelphia has checked in on Greenard at multiple points this offseason, viewing him as a potential addition to a defensive front that thrives on pressure and rotation. Greenard posted 12 sacks in 2024 and followed that with a quieter 2025 campaign, recording 3 sacks in 12 games, though his pass-rush win rate suggests he remained highly effective at disrupting quarterbacks.

Prior to free agency, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler noted that the Eagles have inquired about the pass rusher while working to re-sign Jaelan Phillip to a deal ahead of the new league year.

Greenard, 28, is one of the Vikings' top defensive players and has two seasons remaining on the four-year, $76 million contract with the Vikings, signed in 2024. Greenard has a $22.3 million cap hit and is due $19 million in 2026, but none of that money is fully guaranteed.

A trade would save them about $12 million in cap space.

This deal aligns with the Eagles' long-standing approach of investing in the trenches, particularly along the defensive line. Greenard brings experience, production, and versatility, giving defensive coordinator Vic Fangio another weapon to deploy on multiple fronts. With a deep rotation already in place that includes Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, and Arnold Ebiketie, his addition only strengthens a unit that thrives on waves of pressure.

While the cost of two future third-round picks is high, the Eagles are clearly prioritizing immediate impact and postseason contention.
