Now the Invincible Season 4 finale is out the door, thoughts have inevitably turned to the already confirmed Season 5 and beyond. Co-creator Robert Kirkman has said that he’s sticking to his plan to wrap up the series in seven, eight, or nine seasons, but it will all depend on getting a renewal beyond Season 5 from Amazon.

This echoes comments Kirkman made in July last year. “Roughly seven to eight to nine seasons I think would be necessary to do the complete arc from the comics of Invincible,” he said at the time. “So we’ll see. Hopefully we get there. We get a tonne of support from Amazon Prime and couldn’t be more thrilled with how things are going. So, very excited and hopeful for it.”
For now, though, story threads for Season 5 are coming into focus. Kirkman told TheWrap that stories and plot threads introduced into Invincible will be concluded later, which should give fans concerned about The Order, for example, some reassurance.
“We’re not gonna start stories in this show with the plan of not continuing them and concluding them within the confines of this show,” he said. “We’ll be touching on The Order plenty in future seasons, so there should be no fear.”
If the Invincible comic is any indication, we’re now at about the halfway point of the story. Matthew Rhys is expected to return as Dinosaurus in Season 5, and we’ll no doubt see more of Lee Pace’s Grand Regent Thragg. But when will Season 5 come out? If we’re following the pattern established by recent Invincible seasons, Season 5 will probably hit Prime Video early 2027.
