Portage 11, Conemaugh Valley 9: Tyson Burkett and Brayden Ciokota each homered in the top of the seventh inning to break a tie Thursday and lead the Mustangs past the host Blue Jays.
Burkett blasted a solo shot to left to break an 8-all tie. Ciokota followed with a two-run homer to left.
Conner Sciko struck out five over four innings. Lucas Shuniak doubled among his two hits and plated two runs.
Burkett and Jordan Klein each finished with two knocks, including a double. Owen Slanoc produced a two-bagger.
Lucas Gathers and Slanoc each drove in two runs. Easton Slanoc stole two bases.
Conemaugh Valley’s Gavin Buchan went 3-for-3. Donald Brown, Buchan, Kyron Fields, Lance Masser and George Weimer each drove in a run. Fields fanned nine over 42/3 innings.
Conemaugh Valley led 7-3 after the fourth inning. Portage answered with three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Conemaugh Township 3, Northern Cambria 1: In Northern Cambria, the Indians tallied three runs in the top of the seventh to back Colin Dinyar’s gem as the visitors handed the Colts their fourth straight loss.
In the seventh, Bryce Conn’s two-run single made it 2-0.
Greyson Studer and Gabe Valentine each recorded two knocks.
Dinyar allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two.
Levi Czar, Zak Kirsch and Reese Wagner each collected one hit for Northern Cambria. Wagner went 62/3 innings, allowing three runs (zero earned) on seven hits. Wagner fanned nine and walked three.
Meyersdale 3, North Star 1: In Meyersdale, Cole Yoder tallied two knocks, including an RBI double, and Carter Vogt delivered a two-run single in the third inning to lead the Red Raiders past the Cougars.
Aiden Thomas fired a complete game, striking out eight batters and walking two. Nolan Lowery doubled.
North Star’s Noah Holcomb recorded three hits, including a double. Ben Steltzer provided an RBI single. Bryson Durst fanned seven over six innings.
United 6, Cambria Heights 3: In Patton, Brendan James went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs while earning the victory on the mound as the Lions doubled up the Highlanders.
James struck out five batters in five innings, allowing three runs.
Braden Butler, Cameron Darr, Ryan Felix and Hayden Warrington each drove in a run. Connor Darr struck out three over the final two frames.
Carson Lobick led Cambria Heights with two hits, including a home run. Nolan Clawson also homered. Bryce Lewis stole two bases. Anthony Swander fanned eight batters in four innings. Clawson struck out two over the final two innings.
Rockwood 8, Blacklick Valley 2: In Nanty Glo, Nathan Show struck out 12 batters in 61/3 innings and added two hits and two RBIs at the plate to propel the Rockets by the Vikings.
Show doubled. Garrison Hale went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and two RBIs. Cooper Harbaugh and Lane Svonavec each added two knocks. Ronin Bergstresser and Svonavec each doubled.
Blacklick Valley’s Carter Rummel totaled two hits, including a double. Ethan Luko doubled, and Tanner Cook drove in two runs. Aiden Boring fanned 10 over 61/3 innings.
Somerset 10, Penn Cambria 4: In Somerset, Braeden Flower and Garret Reese each contributed two hits as the Golden Eagles came back to beat the Panthers.
Flower doubled, stole three bases, scored twice and drove in three runs. Ashton Harmon plated two runs.
Five runs in the fourth inning put Somerset ahead. Reese struck out seven and allowed three runs in four innings.
Penn Cambria’s Drake Talko doubled among his two hits and drove in three runs.
Ferndale 15, Turkeyfoot Valley 4 (5): Connor Hrivnak went 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBIs and a triple as the host Yellow Jackets swatted the Rams.
Michael Zahurak added three knocks, including a double. Maddex Chuklochak and Brady Ferenchik (four RBIs) each produced two hits. Teegan McGough and Connor Szarka (three runs, two stolen bases) each doubled and plated two runs. Szarka struck out six batters over five innings.
Turkeyfoot Valley’s Corban Stimmell tallied two hits. Lee Bowers doubled and drove in three runs.

Greater Latrobe 5, Forest Hills 4: In Altoona, the Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge the Rangers.
Cole Short tripled and drove in three runs. Aaryn Chappel fanned eight batters over 62/3 innings, allowing four runs.
Greater Latrobe led 3-0 in the first inning.
Forest Hills responded with four runs in the fifth to lead 4-3. Jeff Beyer and Colt Secriskey each added two hits. Beyer drove in two runs, and Brody Custer doubled. Xander Richardson struck out six batters in 61/3 innings.
Forest Hills plays Southern Huntingdon County at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Softball
Westmont Hilltop 21, Bishop Carroll Catholic 0 (3): In Ebensburg, Abby Rozich struck out six batters over three perfect innings, while Bella Kist drove in four runs as the Hilltoppers beat the Huskies.
Rozich threw 24 of her 32 pitches for strikes.
Kist homered among her two hits. Kelsie Muto doubled and drove in two runs. Audra Rudolph plated three runs, and Liz Veranese drove in two.
Conemaugh Valley 12, Portage 2 (5): Laine Poborski went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead the host Blue Jays past the Mustangs.
Conemaugh Valley scored seven runs in the second inning.
Maddie McCleester tallied two hits and scored three runs.
Kendra Dietz added two hits, and Dani Toth doubled.
Portage’s Mikaila McCoy and Kendall Stankovich each recorded two hits.
Northern Cambria 14, Conemaugh Township 3 (5): In Northern Cambria, Alyssa Yahner went 2-for-2 with a walk, three runs, a home run and three RBIs as the Colts beat the Indians.
Izzy McCabe homered and plated two runs. McCabe fired five innings and struck out five.
Julia Mitory drove in two runs, and Lainey Vasil doubled.
Conemaugh Township’s Lily Zern supplied two hits, including a double, and two runs.
Mount Pleasant 11, Ligonier Valley 1: In Ligonier, Carly Surma went 3-for-4 with a double, and Kendra Brunson drove in three runs on two hits as the Vikings downed the Rams.
Brunson homered. Danica Trainer fanned seven batters over seven innings. Trainer added two hits. Grace Etling (double) and Emma Miller provided two knocks apiece.
Chloe Borelli and Sadie Poole (double) each plated two runs. Autumn Jurkovic-Kuzma doubled.
Ligonier Valley’s Maggie Peters doubled twice, and Elyse Witcoski added two knocks and two stolen bases.
