The Boston Celtics secured a statement 119-109 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, March 25. Both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown played at an elite level, proving that Boston is capable of hanging with the best teams in the NBA, despite the roster moves Brad Stevens made during the summer.

When speaking to NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin on the sidelines after the game, Brown sent a warning to the rest of the NBA.

“This is just the start,” Brown said. “We’ve still got some games left to keep building momentum. He’s still getting his legs underneath him. I thought tonight was a great game by Jayson. I think it’s just the start.”

Coming into the season, the Celtics were viewed as a team that would struggle to make it out of the play-in tournament. Yet, excellent coaching from Joe Mazzulla and his staff has led to developmental leaps from multiple younger players in the rotation.

The Celtics have a well-balanced roster, full of talented, gritty players who fight on every possession. Heading into Friday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, the Celtics are ranked second in the NBA on offense and fourth in the league on defense.

If Boston can remain healthy, it should have no problem embarking on a deep postseason run. Assuming Tatum continues to improve as he shakes off the rust that comes with a lengthy layoff, the NBA Finals may not be out of reach. The 2025-26 season is shaping up to be a memorable one for Celtics fans, and there’s a whole lot of excitement still to come.
