Tottenham move touted for Manchester City’s Savinho after failed 2025 transfer

Savinho has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer after being heavily linked to Tottenham in 2025, as per a new report.

The 21-year-old only arrived in Manchester in July 2024 but had spent a couple of years in the City Football Group with Troyes – for whom he never actually made a competitive appearance – and Girona, where he was a key part of the club’s run to third place in La Liga.

The Brazilian had a reasonable first year under Pep Guardiola, making 45 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and registering 10 assists.

However, fans began to grow frustrated with the winger’s lack of end product even before the end of the 2024-25 season, with his one Premier League goal coming from an xG of 5.01.

“An incredible player” – Pep Guardiola pinpoints how Savinho can fulfil Manchester City potential

Tottenham and Savinho – the story so far

Tottenham saw the potential in Savinho’s raw numbers and amid City’s squad revamp last summer, Spurs made a big push to sign him after playmaker James Maddison suffered an ACL injury in pre-season.

Previous reports have estimated that the north London outfit’s largest bid for the attacker was between £60-70 million but Guardiola – and City chief executive Ferran Soriano in particular – insisted on keeping Savinho in Manchester.

The faith Guardiola seemingly showed in Savinho last summer has not really come to fruition in his team selection this campaign.

The Brazilian has started just five Premier League games and played a mere 517 minutes thus far, as Jeremy Doku, who many view in the same ilk as Savinho, looks to have made a step forward in his game, which has reduced his game time.

Spurs to rekindle interest given Premier League survival

He was awarded a new contract in October 2025 – coinciding with a run in the team – but an injury picked up in the 51st minute of City’s New Year’s Day draw away at Sunderland once again curtailed any momentum the Brazilian was building.

Additionally, Antoine Semenyo joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in the January transfer window, further bolstering the Blues’ attacking ranks and strengthening competition in the wide attacking areas.

As per Football Insider, it was this injury – at the turn of the year – which ruled him out for the entire winter transfer window, that prevented Tottenham from renewing their interest in Savinho at the start of 2026. However, the situation could change in the summer.

Provided that Spurs can retain their top-flight status, it seems likely that they will renew their efforts to sign Savinho as they look to rectify one of the most horrid seasons in the club’s history.

Will Man City sell Savinho this summer?

Crucially, Guardiola may be more willing to let Savinho after a rather disappointing campaign, though there is currently no idea about how this poor form will have impacted City’s valuation of the winger.

City’s number 26 is clearly a talented player – you do not make 75 appearances for Guardiola’s City and start Champions League games at the Santiago Bernabeu without immense talent.

However, his stint in Manchester has fallen victim to unfortunate timing. City’s director of football Hugo Viana and co are relatively happy to churn through players as they look to find the core of the first-team squad for the years to come – and Savinho has not been able to consistently prove himself when given minutes so far at the Etihad Stadium.
