Professional Fighters League (PFL) made history earlier today (Fri., March 20, 2026) by becoming the first major mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion to stage an event in Spain Madrid, delivering in more ways than one with four of the five main card fights ending in devastating fashion.

Things started off fairly competitive through the first two rounds, with both men finding success on the feet. But it was van Steenis who was feeding off the hometown crow, getting the better of the exchanges throughout. In round three. the two men found themself up against the cage, with Edwards attempting to get the takedown. Once he hesitated for a bit on one knee, van Steenis was able to land one brutal elbow after another to the side of his foe’s head, resulting in 10 unanswered shots that made Edwards go limp.

Check out the highlights:

With the win, van Steenis improves his win streak to four straight and puts Edwards in his rear-view mirror onc and for all after defeating him four years ago under the Bellator banner via split decision. For Edwards, it’s a tough loss in more ways than one because he is now 0-3 in Middleweight title fights, coming up short two times previously under the Bellator umbrella against Johnny Eblen, and trip back to a PFL title fight will be hard to come by with his latest setback.
