Man sought for allegedly sex trafficking woman in Oshawa nabbed

A 44-year-old man wanted for 10 months for human trafficking in Oshawa has now been arrested on numerous charges.

Durham Regional Police say officers from the Human Trafficking Unit launched an investigation on May 1, 2025, into allegations a female had been exploited.
“Investigators determined that the victim initially met the suspects in Oshawa in February 2025,” police alleged in a statement released Wednesday.
Police said a man and woman were subsequently identified as suspects in connection with this investigation.
“Over the course of several weeks, the female suspect exploited the victim and coerced her to engage in sexual acts with men in exchange for money,” police alleged when they announced on July 4, 2025, that the female suspect had been arrested a day earlier.
Tina Baker, then 43, was charged at that time with trafficking in persons, forcible confinement, material benefits from sexual services, procuring/exercising control, extortion, assault, and robbery.
The outcome, if any, of her charges was not immediately known.
When police announced Baker’s arrest, they also revealed an arrest warrant had been issued for a male suspect.
Police now say members of the Offender Management Unit located and arrested that man in Oshawa on March 12.
Yvenord Hyacinthe, of Oshawa, is charged with assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, robbery, extortion, and procuring.
He was held for a bail hearing.
