The New England Patriots need more help at wide receiver this offseason, even if they bring Stefon Diggs back.

Of course, Diggs is a cut candidate with a massive $26.5 million cap hit in 2026. The ideal scenario would be to restructures Diggs to lower that cap hit.
Even if Diggs is brought back, the Patriots need more help, and many fans are hoping that help comes in the form of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, who is widely viewed as a trade candidate this offseason.
Of course, the Eagles haven't confirmed they will trade Brown, but head coach Nick Sirianni did not shoot it down recently.
"Will A.J. be here next season? I think we're still in a spot, like, I can't guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season," Sirianni said.
In what is no doubt exciting news, Mark Daniels and Karen Guregian of Mass Live report that there is "internal interest" in trading for Brown, and such a move could happen even if Diggs stays on the team.
"There’s internal interest in trading for A.J. Brown, and it’s not just dependent on Diggs," they said.
"According to our sources, there’s a scenario where the Patriots could have both receivers on the roster. In the event Diggs is willing to restructure his contract, the team sees an avenue to pair him with Brown," the MassLive.com reporters added.
When it comes to the Diggs situation, Guregian and Daniels report that a resolution with Diggs should be coming at some point in the next few weeks.
One source believes Diggs will definitely get cut if his cap hit isn't lowered, and another source predicts Diggs won't be amenable to changing his contract.
In an ideal world, the Patriots can lower Diggs' cap hit and then bring Brown in, which would amount to a gigantic and much-needed upgrade for Drake Maye.
