The Commanders agreed to a two-year deal with 31-year-old offensive lineman Andrew Wylie worth $7.5 million, including incentives up to $10.5 million. Though most media and the fan base will want to hear about tackle Laremy Tunsil signing an extension, this is an important contract for the Commanders' offensive line as well.
Wylie has valuable experience at both guard and tackle. He has started 34 games in his three seasons in the burgundy and gold. He started in 2025 at right guard until Sam Cosmi was ready to return following ACL surgery and rehab. Wylie has value because the Commanders already know he can play on the right side, substituting as needed for Cosmi at guard and Josh Conerly at tackle.
It's important the Commanders have good depth on the offensive line, to aid in the running game, protect franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels, and be ready to perform when an offensive lineman goes down with an injury.

It's a two-year extension for Wylie, who will turn 32 in August. Wylie came to Washington in 2023 as a free agent, following his initial stay in Kansas City, where he played five seasons (2018-22), after being undrafted out of Eastern Michigan.
Wylie is a solid, economical guard/tackle to re-sign. There is uncertainty whether the Commanders are looking to re-sign guard Chris Paul. And, of course, what has been discussed most on the offensive line is how much Laremy Tunsil will demand as the Commanders attempt to extend him.
